By changing channels I am guessing it resets some timer that the screensaver is looking at to determine that if needs to come on due to lack of activity.

I am 90% sure this is a software bug and that extended watching of a single channel can trigger the bug. I have two Genie-mini wireless units (this was occurring on one of them, not the main unit). I am curious if this works for anyone else having the issue. I will update or remove this post if the issue comes back. The FIX was to just change channels quickly and then change back to the show I was watching when the screensaver was coming on.Īfter about 90 minutes of dealing with the issue, it stopped happening once I performed that little trick. After thinking about the issue for awhile and now understanding it was software trying to prevent screen burn-in I tested a theory which worked for me for the remaining 57 minutes of the program (used timer on my phone when I was testing how long the intervals were). I searched google for the issue and read that many people also seem to experience this when watching long running shows. I was watching the NBA finals and about one hour into viewing this screensaver started popping up about every five minutes. Downgrading to Big Sur over screensaver issues is too big of an effort. Go to System Preferences, click on Software Update, and hit the Update Now button. Wait until Apple releases a hotfix and upgrade your system to the latest version as soon as possible. I dont use screen savers, if I am leaving the computer I push the power button on my sexy ass Dell widescreen LCD.I just ran into this bug for the first time after about a year without issues. The screensaver problem is clearly caused by a software bug. I mean if they REALLY wanted in your network couldnt they just plug their own laptop in? - View image here:. If they break in and get my tools it's bad enough I don't want someone gaining access to my network from the garage. Leaving a computer logged on and unprotected is a MAJOR (get you fired) offense.Ĥ5 minutes before screen blanking (log back in with password) on my 'big' workstation, no screensaver at all on the surfing machine in front of the TV (turn on the monitor, bump the mouse, and I'm surfing).ģ-minute screen saver with password lockout. Three-finger salute and lock the workstation EVERY TIME I walk away - even to the printer (lots of sensitive personal information on lots of people on those machines). I have several different answers for this one.
